Airbus UK Broughton continued their strong start to the season as the second round of fixtures in the JD Cymru North and South got underway in midweek.

Here is a roundup of all the midweek action across the second division.

Cymru North

Bangor followed up their impressive opening day win against rivals Colwyn Bay with a 3-0 home victory against Mold Alexandra. Liam Morris gave Michael Johnston’s men the lead just before the hour mark before Tom Mahoney and substitute Harry Galeotti netted to seal all three points in front of over 500 fans.

Colwyn Bay bounced back from a disappointing opening day loss with a 2-0 home win against Holywell Town. Young prospect Gwion Dafydd on loan from The New Saints scored his first of the season before a late goal from Josh Carey sealed their first three points of the season.

Buckley Town secured their first win of the season with a 3-0 home win against Gresford Athletic. Scott McHarrie opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Max Moore and Rhys Edwards added two more in the second half for The Bucks.

In one of the most entertaining fixtures of the week Ruthin Town gained their first points of the season with an away win against Llay Welfare in a 5-3 thriller. Welfare took a two goal lead in the opening 30 minutes before a Jake Hughes Hampson penalty got Ruthin back in the game heading into the break.

Cavan Daley gave the home side a 3-1 lead in the 52nd minute before the beginning of a sensational fightback from the away side. An Ethan Davies goal followed by another penalty from Hughes Hampson levelled the game before an instant impact from substitute Harry Martin saw Dave Evans side take the lead.

Jack Edwards secured the points off the bench in second half added time to top off a great comeback performance for the visitors. Prestatyn Town, Llandudno and Denbigh Town make up the bottom three with Prestatyn and Denbigh having a game to spare.

Cymru South

Newly promoted Trethomas Bluebirds made it back to back wins to start the season with a dominant 3-0 win at home to fellow promoted side Penrhiwceiber Rangers. Youngster Ethan Edwards gave The Bluebirds the lead before a brace from prolific striker Gareth Tedstone sealed the win for the league leaders.

Pontypridd United fought back to keep their unbeaten record with a 3-2 away win against Trefelin. Last seasons Cymru South young player of the season Roan Piper gave the home side the lead at the break, before two second half goals from new signing Liam Eason sealed his hat-trick and the win for his side.

The match winning performance from Eason sees him sit at the top of the goalscoring charts with four goals heading into week three.

Llantwit Major got their first win of the season with an impressive 2-1 away win against Ammanford. Chris Bell was sent off for the hosts after 20 minutes with Major taking a two goal lead into the break. Despite a second half goal from Lewis Reed they were unable to get a result as Ben Stait’s side held on.

Cymru C international Ethan Cann gave The Reds the lead in the sixth minute before Jospeh Lloyd added a second. An early second half goal from Jordan Meaney got the away side back in the game but a late strike from Danny Williams sealed the points for Lee John’s men.

A back and forth game at Cwrt Yr Ala ended in a stalemate as Caerau Ely and Carmarthen Town played out a 2-2 draw. Gavin Jones gave The Old Gold the lead before 21-year old Haben Samson levelled for The Young Guns.

Noah Daley regained the lead for the away side just before the break, but an early second half goal from Hywel Davies meant the sides had to settle for a point each.

In the only goalless fixture of the week Newport City were held at home by Cambrian United in a 0-0 draw. Neither side were able to find the breakthrough leaving them both on four points after the first two fixtures.

Afan Lido suffered a second consecutive league defeat with a 2-1 home loss against Taffs Well. Thomas Phillips opened the scoring for the away side before Lido youngster Ieuan Owen levelled the scoring with 32 minutes played.
