Cardiff Met teach Briton Ferry tough lesson in clinical finishing

Cardiff Met put in a five star performance on wet night at Old Road as they ran out 5-1 winners over Briton Ferry.

Despite some early promise and good possession Briton Ferry found themselves two down at half time after late first half goals from Ryan Reynolds and Mathew Chubb.

In the second half Met upped the tempo and Ferry were penned back in the early goings.  Lewis Rees added a third Met goal after 61 minutes.  Just minutes later and it was four as

The win sends Met to the top of the JD Cymru Premier while Briton Ferry sit bottom.

Briton Ferry made a decent start to the game as they took the match to Cardiff Met.  Despite enjoying good spells of possession and time in the Met half they struggled to create any good chances.

A good ball into the box from Rio Dyer was deflected and forced a strong hand from Alex Lang to turn around the post.  Lang having to stretch to get down to his left hand post to turn the ball away.

CJ Craven won a free kick after a quick turn caught out Joe Jones.  Lewis Rees took the free kick sending the ball towards the back post.  Kris Evans got a head to it before Ferry were able to scramble the ball clear.

CJ Craven sent a good ball though for Sam Jones to run on to too.  Jones couldn’t quite reach Craven’s pass and the ball went into Pennock.

A quick attack from Met saw quick ball across goal from Adam Roscrow missed by Sam Jones.  Met kept the ball alive and Dixon Kabongo found Ryan Reynolds who turned the ball past Pennock via a Ferry hand.

Met almost went two up when Roscrow was played in on goal.  Roscrow couldn’t fine the finish and his shot was straight at the keeper. 

It was two before the break as the visitors cranked up the pressure.  Matthew Chubb rising above everyone to head in at the far post.

Met made a quick start to the second half when Reynolds shot struck the post after Sam Jones set him up.

Reynolds was having a good game and he tried gain from the edge of the box but this time it was too close to Pennock who made an easy save.

Met Made it three on the hour mark when Lewis Rees scored.  Rees took a shot on the edge of the box that looked to be straight at Pennock.  The Briton Ferry keeper misjudging the ball and it went straight under him. 

Met were relentless and had a fourth after a goal month scramble that saw a shot side another block but the ball finally turned in by CJ Craven. 

Ferry did craft a chance when Joe jones downward header was saved by Lang. 

With seven minutes to goal Ferry got one back as Tom Price headed in.  It was their first goal in the Cymru Prem.

Jake Morris manged to poke home from close range to make it 5-1 in added time.
