Briton Ferry top off good week with Bala Town draw

Briton Ferry and Bala Town shared the points after both sides picked up big midweek wins.

Ross White gave the visitors the lead after just three minutes.  The host’s though turned the game around by halftime with Alex Gammond’s penalty and a Jasper Payne strike in first-half added time.  Bala levelled in the second half through a Gammond own goal and despite chances at both ends the sides ended level. 

Briton Ferry remain in 11th place but closed the gap on Flint to two points while Bala drop down to fourth two points behind Haverfordwest.


Bala won an early free kick as Alex Gammond fouled Christian Norton.  Nathan Burke chipped the ball to the far post and found Ross White who headed in.

The hosts had their first chance when Tyler Brock tried from the edge of the box but his effort was too close to the keeper. 

Bala went close when Rhys Wilson came out to punch clear leaving the goal open.  Bala had an effort at goal but Alex Gammond had covered and cleared the chance away.

Bala had another good chance after a free kick was sent to into the box and Norton met it smashing a header against the post.  The loose ball came out to Burke who hit a shot but it was blocked.

Briton Ferry started to gain some ground and apply some pressure on Bala.  However they struggled to create and clear chances with Walters hitting a shot side the best they managed.

The pressure told and the host’s were awarded a penalty for a foul on Walters.  Alex Gammond stepped up and fired Ferry level.

Back in the game and some renewed confidence for the home team.  Ryan Bevan sent in a good cross from the right and Tom Price almost connected with from close range.

In added time Briton Ferry turned the game on its head.  A ball into the box thought the middle found Jasper Payne who put the ball past Torrance to put the home side ahead.

An early Bala free kick saw Burke send the ball into the box but Ferry were able to clear.  Bala tried to work the ball back out wide to Aeron Edwards but he was offside.

Bala levelled early into the second period when their pressure caused Gammond to put the ball in his own net.

Norton went close when his shot from close range needed Rhys Wilson to be sharp to save at the near post.

Aeron Edwards played a good ball though to Norton putting him in on goal.  Alex Gammond timed his challenge well to stop any chance of a shot.

Wilson made another save after Edwards had found Joe Malkin.  Malkin went sliding in for the ball but Wilson made it his first. 

After a mistake at the back from Bala Jasper Payne took advantage.  Picking up the loose ball Payne fired a low shot across goal that whisked past the far post.

There was a delay to the game as Alex Dowes received treatment for an injury that would see him stretchered off.  It appeared that Dowes had twisted his knee.

Ferry then went close after the game restarted as the ball sent out to the left of the box to Ellis Sage.  Sage hit a shot but it went over the bar.

Nathan Burke found Hussein Mehasseb but he headed over.  Mehasseb not able to recreate his heroic late equaliser against TNS

Tom Price whipped a cross into the box that almost found Luke Bowen running in.  the ball going just behind the Ferry striker.
