TNS could be without Adam Wilson for three games after he was called up to represent the Kenya national team.

Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat has named a 28-man squad for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Cameroon. Firat will drop three players out of his squad, and Wilson will be hoping he makes the final cut.

Players will be away on international duty from October 7 to October 15. The matches will be played on Friday, October 11 in Cameroon, and then in Uganda on October 14, with the second match played behind closed doors.

It is the second time this year and in his career that Wilson has been called up to the Kenya squad. He was named in the June squad for World Cup qualifiers against Burundi and Ivory Coast but didn’t make it onto the pitch.

He qualifies through his mother who is Kenyan, whilst his father is English. Wilson represented England at under-18 level but is committed to the country he visited for the first time as a toddler.

“That was a great experience this summer,” said Wilson when describing his experiences with Kenya this summer.

“I went out to Nairobi for two weeks and was training with the squad,” Wilson told his club’s media in September.

“It was nice weather and a change of scenery. I got to see some of my family as well, so it was a good experience.”

The games Adam Wilson could miss for TNS

If Wilson makes the finalised squad, then he could be out for up to three games. TNS play Briton Ferry on October 6, and then he’d be expected to link up with his international teammates.

The New Saints are in action against Caernarfon Town on October 9 in the Cymru Premier then Cardiff Met on October 12, before facing Flint Town United on October 15.

It’s a short turnaround too for their Welsh Cup match against Llangollen Town which is due to take place on Friday, October 18.

He would be guaranteed to miss the games against the Canaries and Archers, and then against the Silkmen, he wouldn’t have been afforded much of a rest from the second game against Cameroon.

Wilson is on a season-long loan from Bradford City. He first joined TNS from Newcastle United and was sold to the Bantams for a record transfer fee in 2023 before the sale of Brad Young this summer.
