Taffs Well have decided to part company with their management team of Geza Hajgato and Nathan Cotterall.
The club sit second from bottom in the Cymru South. In the 10 matches they have played, they’ve won just twice, picking up a possible eight points from 30.
Taffs Well had been on a five-game losing streak and hadn’t won in the league since mid-August. The management team’s last game in charge was a 1-0 defeat to Penrhiwceiber Rangers.
Taffs Well’s parting statement
A statement published on Sunday read: “Taffs Well FC can confirm that co-managers Geza Hajgato and Nathan Cotterrall have left the club with immediate effect, This decision has been made as we believe a change is necessary to improve our fortunes as we move forward.
“We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Geza and Nathan for their tireless efforts during their time with us.
“Their leadership was crucial in guiding the club through two challenging seasons, successfully staving off relegation. Their dedication, both on and off the pitch, has been greatly appreciated by everyone at the club.
“As we move forward, the club will be making interim arrangements to ensure stability while we begin the process of appointing a long-term manager.
“We will keep supporters updated throughout this period and are hopeful for a positive turnaround in the coming weeks and months.
“We wish Geza and Nathan the very best in their future careers and thank them once again for their invaluable contributions to Taffs Well FC.”
Hajgato and Cotterall took over in May 2023 from Craig Sampson. Last season, the pair guided the Wellman to a 13th-placed finish. They survived relegation by virtue of goal difference.
Chris Hooper took interim charge of their first game without Cotterall and Hajgato against Baglan Dragons at Rhiw’r Ddar. They suffered a 3-1 defeat.
It’s the second managerial change in the space of a few weeks. Paul Evans and Afan Lido decided to part ways, and they appointed Garry Taylor as his replacement.
Taylor was manager of Pontardawe Town last season but left following their relegation to the Ardal South West. He took up a coaching role with Llanelli Town but has since left Stebonheath Park to take up the position at the Marston Stadium.
