Haverfordwest County have announced that they have extended the contract of first-team manager Tony Pennock.
It is the second year in a row in which Pennock has agreed to further his stay by another season. His previous deal saw his contract run until the end of the 2025/26 campaign but now it will expire in the summer of 2027.
The 53-year-old has been in his post at the Bridge Meadow for almost two-and-a-half years. In that time, he has guided the club into Europe, beating KF Shkendija in the UEFA Conference League. Last season, Haverfordwest finished eighth, missing out on a play-off spot to Penybont on goal difference.
This season, Haverfordwest find themselves in third place in the Cymru Premier. Pennock was recently crowned the Cymru Premier’s Manager of the Month for October. The Bluebirds went through the entire month unbeaten playing out to two wins and two draws.
Haverfordwest also booked their place in the Round of 16 in the Welsh Cup defeating Ammanford on penalties. The draw takes place on Wednesday, November 20 at 8.00 pm and will be streamed on Red Wall Plus.
Tony Pennock reacts to new Haverfordwest County contract
Speaking after his new contract was confirmed, Pennock said: “I believe we have made big strides forward on and off the pitch in the last two and a half years, and I want to help continue our progression.
“We know we have lots to improve on. I, along with the board, staff, players and volunteers have a fantastic opportunity to write our own chapter in the great history of our club.
“The ongoing developments at the Ogi Bridge Meadow can only strengthen our club and I, along with Gary [Richards], want to play a part in making this season and seasons to come a success for our club.
“Gaining European qualification in 2022/23 has only given me a stronger desire to achieve more, and that should be our aim as a club every season.”
Chairman Rob Edwards added: “We are delighted to extend Tony’s contract for a further year.
“We are a forward-thinking club and always have the next few years in mind when making decisions, and it was no brainer for myself and my Board to try to keep Tony here for the long-term based on the successful period the club has gone through under his leadership.
“It’s been a fantastic start to the season with yet more records broken, and we feel this is the beginning of a really successful period for the club.
“We are delighted Tony will be leading us through it until at least the end of the 2026-27 season.”
Before joining Haverfordwest, Pennock was on the coaching staff at Hull City. He worked as a first-team coach alongside Grant McCann, Nigel Adkins, Leonid Slutskiy, Mike Phelan, Marco Silva, and Shota Arveladze.
His other previous management jobs saw him take charge of Port Talbot and Aberystwyth Town. Pennock was also a coach and academy manager at Swansea City.
During his playing career, he featured for Yeovil Town and was a player at Huish Park for six years. His other clubs included Hereford United, Farnborough Town, Carmarthen Town, and Newport County.
