Pontypridd United and Taffs Well meet at the USW Sport Park in an A470 Derby played in the Cymru South.
It’s a return to Treforest for Wellmen manager Josh Anderson who was assistant manager of the Dragons until the end of October. Anderson departed Pontypridd at the same time as Gavin Allen with the two going across Welsh football’s second tier.
The 28-year-old has so far overseen four games in the Cymru South with one win, two draws and a defeat. It’s been 26 days since Taffs Well played, losing 2-1 to Ammanford at Rhiw’r Ddar.
Pontypridd like Taffs Well haven’t played for several weeks either. Their last game was a 4-2 win against Trefelin with Daniel Griffiths getting a brace and Liam Eason registering two assists.
Pontypridd find themselves in third and only two points off of Trethomas Bluebirds. League leaders Trethomas don’t play until Saturday, so Pontypridd can go top with a win, but that will count on Llanelli Town failing to win against Ammanford.
Taffs Well are second from bottom but are only a point adrift of safety. If they can win against Pontypridd, and Afan Lido lose against Goytre United, and Penrhiwceiber drop points against Caerau Ely they could move out of the bottom three.
Referee
Kris Hames is the referee and he will be assisted by Jack Moore and Neil Wilcox. The 46-year-old hails from Aberdare, and has done 11 games this season with 51 yellow cards shown, and two penalties awarded.
Hames refereed Pontypridd’s 1-0 win over Carmarthen Town, which was Gavin Allen’s last game in charge. He’s not done a Cymru South game this season.
