Connah’s Quay Nomads have confirmed the signing of a new striker as they add an experienced and proven goalscorer who joins from their former Cymru Premier rivals.
The Nomads have bolstered their attack for the new campaign with the signing of 23-year-old Hussein Mehasseb from recently relegated Bala Town. A former Egyptian U20 International, Mehasseb scored seven goals for the Lakesiders in the previous top-flight campaign.
Standing at six foot six, Mehasseb joins the Nomads off the back of two strong campaigns with Bala, in which he made 51 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals and assisting four times during his time with the Lakesiders. Mehasseb now looks ahead to the new campaign with the Nomads, where he will consider the prospect of playing European football in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers.
The 23-year-old spoke to the Nomads’ club media following the announcement of his arrival, saying, “I am delighted to be signing for Connah’s Quay Nomads.
“A club with a long history in Wales and many achievements over the years. I’m really excited to be working with the manager, whom I thank for his trust, alongside all of the staff and players.
“I hope that we can have a very successful season altogether, starting from our first UEFA Conference League game.”

Mehasseb’s Career Path, Including Rangers and Motherwell spells
Mehasseb has had a unique career path so far, playing football across Europe as well as in his home country of Egypt. The striker was in Rangers’ youth set-up before joining Motherwell for three years.
Al Ahly’s U21 in Egypt then followed for the forward before he moved to Neptunas in Lithuania – consecutive moves across the continent then saw Mehasseb join Omonia 29 Maiou and FC Malisheva in the 2023/24 season before signing for Bala in September 2024.
New Caernarfon Town Signing Hints At Potential Next Cofis Arrival
Elsewhere in the Cymru Premier, Caernarfon Town announced the return of Noah Edwards on Tuesday, with the 30-year-old returning to the Cofis from Connah’s Quay Nomads for what’s being quoted as a ‘substantial fee’.
Upon his return to the club, Edwards spoke to the club’s media and said that he is “really excited to be back” he also spoke about the players he would be lining up alongside next season.
“There are still a few lads that I’ve played with in the past: Daz (Darren Thomas, Brads (Sion Bradley), Danny Gosset, and Paulo.”
Sion Bradley returned to the Cofis on loan last season from Cymru Premier champions The New Saints. The 28-year-old left Caernarfon in July 2024 following six years with the Cofis before returning to the club for the 2025/26 season.
It’s not yet confirmed whether Bradley will remain at Park Hall with TNS for the upcoming campaign, so could Edwards be hinting at possibly reuniting with Bradley at The Oval next season?
