Wrexham have learned their opponents for their UEFA Women’s Champions League debut.

The Red Dragons will compete on the European stage for the first time in their history after winning the Adran Premier title.

UEFA Women’s Champions League draw

The first qualifying round is played as a mini-tournament, with clubs competing in a semi-final followed by either a final or a third-place play-off. Only the winner of the final advances to the second qualifying round. All matches in each group are hosted at a single venue in the home country of one of the participating clubs.

They have been drawn against Armenian champions FC Pyunik in the semi-finals. If they progress, they will face either Glentoran (Northern Ireland) or Riga (Latvia) in the final.

A second match is guaranteed regardless of the semi-final result. If Wrexham are beaten by FC Pyunik, they will face the loser of the other semi-final in a third-place play-off, with a higher finishing position bringing increased financial rewards.

Who are FC Pyunik?

Pyunik have already played several Women’s Champions League qualifying campaigns. Last season, they made history by becoming the first Armenian women’s side to win a UWCL match, beating NSA Sofia of Bulgaria 1-0 thanks to a goal from Veronika Asatryan.

When will the matches take place?

The semi-finals will take place on Wednesday, 22 July, with the finals and third-place play-offs scheduled for Saturday, 25 July.
