Welsh Cup: Second qualifying round draw: How to watch, ball numbers, fixture dates as Cwmbran Town, Llannefydd, and Knighton Town.

The Welsh domestic season began in July with the Welsh Cup first qualifying round, which delivered several shocks ahead of this week’s second qualifying round draw.

One of the biggest upsets came as Taff Ely & Rhondda Valley League side Rhydyfelin Non Pol stunned Ardal South East club Brecon Corries 6-5 in a dramatic comeback win. After falling 3-1 behind, Rhydyfelin fought back with Jayden Granelli scoring twice and assisting Dylan Reid, who also added another goal.

Splott also produced a standout result, beating Ardal South East side Undy 4-0 away from home, with goals from Jose Caldeira De Freitas, Ben Yarwood, Tayun Denner and Macauley Morgan.

There were plenty of big scorelines elsewhere, with Trelewis Welfare recording the round’s biggest win in an 11-0 victory over Risca Town. Penydarren beat Wattsville 9-1, with new signing Regan Hawkins scoring a hat-trick, while Rockspur defeated Nelson Cavaliers 7-0. Abertillery Bluebirds, Llangennech and Risca United also secured convincing wins with six goals each.

The biggest league-gap upset came from eighth-tier Llanyrafon, who defeated South Wales Premier League side Pencoed thanks to Max Griffiths’ stoppage-time winner.

Debutants Abernant meanwhile secured a memorable place in the next round of the Welsh Cup after defeating Ardal South West side Morriston Town.

New signing Jordan Coles made an immediate impact on his first appearance for the club after joining from Llwydcoed, giving Abernant the lead. Fellow debutant Nathan Jenkins, who arrived from Penywaun, then doubled the advantage to put the Aberdare Football League side in control.

The victory caps a superb achievement for Abernant, who finished third in the league last season, as the Rhondda Cynon Taf club progress to the second qualifying round of the competition.

In the North, Nefyn United were beaten 2-0 by CPD Dolgellau AA in the Welsh Cup first qualifying round after the hosts scored twice in stoppage time at Cae Marian on Saturday.

At 53 years of age, Marc Lloyd Williams rolled back the years by scoring on his return for hometown club Llanberis in their Welsh Cup victory at Lon Bach.

The Cymru Premier’s record goalscorer made a surprise comeback for the village side and found the net as Llanberis produced a dominant display. Guto Jones led the scoring with a hat-trick, while Kurt Hellfeld added two goals and Ben Rowlands and Ryan Allsup also got on the scoresheet.

Newly promoted Queens Park appeared to be in control of their tie against fourth-tier Llanfairfechan, leading 5-2 with seven minutes of normal time remaining. However, a late fightback saw Llanfairfechan score three times to force a penalty shoot-out.

Queens Park held their nerve from the spot, converting all five penalties to secure a 5-3 shoot-out victory and progress to the next round.

Mynydd Isa recorded the biggest win of the round as the Tier 3 side defeated CPD Blue Bridge, two divisions below them, with a 12-0 victory. Steve Chiocchi and Nathan Mendoza both scored hat-tricks in a dominant attacking display, while James Beck and Kieran Jones contributed two goals each. Sam Edwards and Josh Holmes completed the scoring as Mynydd Isa secured a convincing away win.

Which clubs are in the Welsh Cup second qualifying round draw?

• The winners from the first qualifying round (the teams that progressed from the opening round), and
  
• The four highest-ranked Tier 3 clubs, who receive entry at this stage: Cwmbran Celtic, Cwmbran Town, Knighton Town and Llannefydd

The clubs have been divided into two regional sections for the draw: a Northern section featuring 52 teams and a Southern section featuring 68 teams.

To keep the process fair and balanced, each section has been randomly split into two equal pots. The Northern section will see 26 clubs in each pot, while the Southern section will have 34 clubs in each pot.

During the draw, each number selected will represent one club from each pot. For example, in the Northern section, Ball 1 will pair Bethesda Athletic from Pot 1 with Barmouth & Dyffryn United from Pot 2.
