Cymru Leagues: Ex-Stoke City, Southampton and Accrington Stanley players headline six best summer signings
The Cymru Leagues have seen plenty of movement throughout the summer transfer window, with clubs across all three divisions reshaping their squads ahead of the new campaign.
With the opening two game-weeks now complete, a number of those summer arrivals have already made their mark, whether through goals, assists, clean sheets or simply bringing valuable experience to their new clubs.
With plenty of new faces settling into life across Welsh football, here are six summer signings who have impressed in the opening two weeks of the season, and could be astute buys over the course of the campaign.
Kane Draper – Pure Swansea
Starting in the Cymru South, high-flying Pure Swansea signed former Nottingham Forest and Swansea City goalkeeper Kane Draper this summer.
The 21-year-old already has an abundance of Cymru Leagues experience, having turned out for Pontypridd United, Cambrian United and Llantwit Major since leaving Forest.
In his opening two appearances for Pure Swansea, who already have one eye on promotion, Draper has kept two clean sheets, including one against his former side Llantwit Major.
It has been an impressive start for the young goalkeeper, who will be hoping to play a key role as Pure Swansea look to challenge at the top end of the table.
Daniel Alfei – Pontardawe Town
Staying in the south, Pontardawe Town completed the signing of experienced defender Daniel Alfei this summer.
Alfei has plied his trade in the EFL with the likes of Wrexham, Portsmouth and Swansea City, while also representing Wales in multiple age groups.
He is already bringing plenty of experience and professionalism to Pontardawe, having been named captain.
The Magpies earned promotion to the Cymru South after conceding just 27 goals in the Ardal Southwest last term, and they will be hoping Alfei’s defensive ability and years of experience can help them maintain that strong defensive record at a higher level.
Pontardawe narrowly lost to Pontypridd Town last week, but an emphatic 3-0 win against Caerphilly on the opening day showed signs of what they can offer, with Alfei’s influence already beginning to show.
Craig Lindfield – Bala Town
Bala Town have signed veteran forward Craig Lindfield from Holywell Town after his 21 goals and 10 assists in the 2025/26 Cymru North campaign helped Holywell secure promotion.
The Liverpool youth product has also enjoyed a spell in the EFL with Accrington Stanley, adding further experience to a career which has seen him play across the English and Welsh football pyramid.
Lindfield will be hoping his proven goalscoring record at this level can help him earn a place in the Cymru Premier for the second time in as many seasons.
He has made a strong start at Bala, scoring twice in his opening two Cymru North appearances.
With experience across the EFL and youth caps for England, the forward has all the ingredients to be among the leading goalscorers in the division come the end of the season.
Guto Williams – Bangor City 1876
Bangor City 1876 confirmed the signing of former Cymru C defensive midfielder Guto Williams, who also achieved promotion alongside Lindfield with Holywell last season.
The 26-year-old arrives at the Bangor City Stadium with a wealth of Cymru Premier experience, having competed in the top flight with Cardiff Met and Colwyn Bay.
Williams has started both of Bangor’s opening two games, registering an assist on the opening day against Bala.
Bangor fans will be hoping to see more of the same consistency that Williams showed during Holywell’s promotion-winning campaign as they look to establish themselves at the top end of the Cymru North.
Ryan Hill – Penybont
Ryan Hill made the switch from National League side Aldershot to Penybont this summer after the wide attacker chalked up nine goals and four assists in the National League.
The move to the Cymru Premier has already proved fruitful, with Hill scoring once and providing an assist in his opening two games.
The 28-year-old, who spent time as a youth player at Stoke City, will be hoping to use his experience with non-league clubs such as Eastleigh and Dagenham & Redbridge as he enters what could be the prime years of his career in the Cymru Premier.
Pen-y-Bont have also made a strong start to the campaign, beating Caernarfon and holding reigning champions The New Saints to a draw.
Hill will now be looking to play a major role as Pen-y-Bont aim to challenge for what would be their first-ever Cymru Premier title.
Dynel Simeu – The New Saints
The New Saints have snapped up former Chelsea youngster Dynel Simeu after he was released by EFL League Two side Oldham Athletic last season.
The defender, who was born in Cameroon, made the move from Chelsea to Southampton in 2021 before spending time on loan with several EFL clubs.
The now 24-year-old subsequently moved to Albanian Premier League side KF Teuta, gaining further senior experience before returning to England with Oldham.
The 6ft 2in defender has completed 90 minutes in each of his opening two games for TNS, helping the reigning champions keep two clean sheets.
Simeu will be hoping to add to his collection of silverware in Wales, with his honours already including an FA Youth Cup win during his time at Chelsea.
With TNS once again among the favourites for domestic honours, Simeu could prove to be an important addition as they look to retain their Cymru Premier title
