‘Battle’’ – Pure Swansea star sets sights on Pontypridd United after flying Cymru South start

Pure Swansea take on Pontypridd United in a top-of-the-table clash in the Novira Cymru South on Friday night.
Both teams currently boast a 100% record in the league this season, with this fixture set to be a litmus test for what both teams can achieve this season.
Having only been promoted from the Ardal South West last season, Pure Swansea have been the surprise package in the second tier this season, as they currently sit top of the table.
Jack Midwinter will be impressed with is team’s resolute defensive performances so far this season, with the side only conceding once in their opening four.
But it is Pure Swansea’s frontman that is grabbing all the attention, with Casey Couglin having netted five times so far this season.
“The goals will keep coming…”
The 22-year-old is enjoying success so far in his first season at this level, but he attributes his goalscoring exploits to the team behind him.
“The goals will keep coming as long as the boys keep putting the balls in the box; that always makes life easier.”
“My target at the start of the season was 10 goals, but with the start we’ve had, I’m looking at 15, hopefully more.”
Pure Swansea “loving it” in first Cymru South season
The step up to the Cymru South hasn’t phased Coughlin so far, but Friday is set to be their toughest challenge yet.
“The boys are loving it. We didn’t know what to expect to start the season, but we worked hard in pre-season, and we’re making sure we’re doing what we’ve done all last year.”
“We couldn’t have asked for a better start really. It’s always good to play new teams; it will be a big test Friday to see where we’re really at.”

Pontypridd have also enjoyed a fine start to the season, sitting second in the table with an unbeaten record, only matched by Pure Swansea.
“It’s going to be a battle; they’re a good side, there’s a reason why they’ve won all four games. We’re excited to see where we’re at after Friday.”
Coughlin admitted that the direction from the coaching staff hasn’t swayed due to the occasion.
“The message has been the same every game. We focus on ourselves, because if we keep doing the things we are good at, then it’s going to be hard for teams to stop us.”
The clash kicks off at 19:30 on Friday at Swansea Bay Sport Park, with the winner surely setting early sights on promotion to the Novira Cymru Premier.
