Cardiff City sign Wales youth international as Wrexham loan defender and Pontypridd United add Gibraltar midfielder

Cardiff City have moved to strengthen their youth ranks with the signing of Wales youth international Seren Thomas, while Wrexham have loaned out defender Annabelle Williams to Aberystwyth Town.

There has also been movement in the Genero Adran South, with Pontypridd United completing the signing of Gibraltar international Anna Howard and bringing Ruby Medcraft back to the club.

Ponty have also added 19-year-old defender Ailsa Milne, who joins after spells with Wycombe Wanderers and Cardiff Met.

Cardiff City bring in Wales U17 international Seren Thomas

Cardiff have signed 15-year-old centre-back Seren Thomas from Adran South side Penybont.

Thomas is a two-time Wales U17 international and featured in the recent fixtures against Denmark and Portugal earlier this month.

The defender previously played for Penybont in the National Academi League U15s before making the move to Leckwith Stadium.

Bluebirds manager Noah Bushby said developing young Welsh players remained an important part of the club’s programme.

“Developing young Welsh talent is incredibly important to us, and continuing to support players progressing into national squads remains a key priority,” Bushby said.

“Signing Seren is an exciting step forward for our programme.”

Bushby’s side will face Barry Town United at Jenner Park Stadium on September 27.

Wrexham defender joins Aberystwyth Town on loan

Aberystwyth Town have brought in Annabelle Williams on loan from Adran Premier rivals Wrexham.

The 16-year-old is a versatile defender who has come through the FAW Academy system and now has the opportunity to gain further senior experience with the Seasiders.

Aberystwyth first-team assistant manager Josh Jones said he was pleased to welcome Williams to the club and was looking forward to helping her continue her development.

“Really pleased to welcome Belle to Aberystwyth Town,” Jones said to the official club website.

“She’s a young player with plenty of potential, and I’m really looking forward to working with her, helping her develop and seeing what she can achieve with us.”

The loan agreement between the two clubs reflects their shared commitment to creating opportunities for emerging Welsh talent.

Williams could make her Aberystwyth debut on Sunday when the Seasiders travel to Cyncoed Campus.

Pontypridd United add Gibraltar international and two more players

There has also been a busy period of recruitment for Pontypridd United, with Gibraltar international Anna Howard among the club’s latest additions.

The 20-year-old midfielder has represented Gibraltar at both senior and U19 level and has regularly competed in the Gibraltar Women’s Premier League.

Howard has previously played for Lynx FC, Europa FC and Mons Calpe Gibraltar Wave.

She has also had a brief spell in Wales with the Met Met and will now begin a new chapter with Pontypridd United in the Adran South.

Ponty manager Drew Lewis said: “Anna is a really exciting addition and I believe she can add real quality to our midfield.”

The club have also confirmed the return of Ruby Medcraft following a brief spell with Barry Town.

Medcraft enjoyed a season with Pontypridd, featuring for both the U19s and first team, and Lewis said he was pleased to see her return.

“Ruby was really important for us last season, and I’m really pleased to have her back,” he said.

Ponty have also signed 19-year-old defender Ailsa Milne, who joins after spells with Wycombe Wanderers and Met.

Lewis added: “Ailsa is a player I’m really excited to work with. She’s young, but there’s a lot more to come from her.”
