Football Manager 27 gives Welsh football fans the chance to take charge of clubs across the Cymru Leagues, with 48 teams available to manage.

FM27 is almost here, and Welsh football fans will have plenty of reasons to dive into the dugout when the latest edition becomes available

With all 48 clubs from the Cymru Leagues included, alongside all eight Adran Premier teams, there is no shortage of opportunities to take a lower-league side to the top or turn a struggling club into a force in Welsh football.

This year’s edition is particularly significant, as it is the first Football Manager game to feature the new Cymru Premier structure, which expands from 12 teams to 18. Managers will have the chance to shape the future of the domestic game, improve Wales’ European coefficient and help the country earn back their fourth European spot.

Whether you fancy a difficult relegation battle, a rebuild in the second tier or a challenge to The New Saints‘ dominance, here are five Welsh clubs worth considering when you start your Football Manager 27 save.

Five Cymru Leagues clubs to manage in Football Manager 27

Holywell Town: Can you rescue the Cymru Premier strugglers?

If you enjoy taking on a relegation battle, Holywell Town could provide one of the most demanding challenges in the game.

The club are currently winless in the Cymru Premier, leaving plenty of work to do for any manager hoping to turn their fortunes around. It is the sort of save that will test your ability to get results with limited resources, identify affordable players and build a team capable of competing week after week.

Rather than immediately targeting European qualification, the priority will be to stop the slide, find a winning formula and give the supporters something to cheer about.

Can you transform Holywell into an established Cymru Premier side, or will the pressure prove too much? For managers who enjoy starting at the bottom and working their way up, this could be an ideal place to begin.

Penrhyncoch: Can you close the gap in the Cymru North?

Penrhyncoch offer another opportunity for managers who prefer a club in need of immediate improvement.

The Cymru North side are currently winless and sit six points adrift of 15th place, meaning there is a significant gap to bridge if they are to climb the table.

That makes this a challenge built around finding results quickly. You will need to assess the squad, make the most of the players available and decide whether tactical changes or additions to the team offer the best route out of trouble.

There is also the longer-term objective of building a side capable of competing towards the top end of the division.

Can you turn Penrhyncoch’s fortunes around and create a team capable of pushing for promotion? It is a save for those who enjoy the hard work of rebuilding a club rather than simply taking over a title contender.

Llanelli Town: What would you do in the Stebonheath hot seat?

Llanelli Town are another club in need of a turnaround, with the side currently winless in the Cymru South.

Lee John has just taken over, giving the club a new managerial direction in real life. In Football Manager 27, however, you can imagine yourself in the Stebonheath hot seat and decide how you would approach the challenge.

The immediate task would be to end the winless run and get the team moving in the right direction. From there, the aim would be to establish consistency and build a squad capable of challenging towards the top of the Cymru South.

Llanelli have the appeal of being a club with ambitions to progress through the Welsh pyramid, making them an interesting option for anyone who wants to build something over several seasons.

Can you turn things around at Stebonheath? Woould you take a different approach to the one currently being pursued?

Trethomas Bluebirds: Can you get the best out of Michael Chopra?

For a more unusual managerial experience, Trethomas Bluebirds provide a fascinating option.

One of the standout talking points is the opportunity to manage a 42-year-old Michael Chopra. The former Football League forward adds an intriguing dimension to a save that could otherwise be about building a club from the lower reaches of Welsh football.

How you approach the challenge will depend on your squad, resources and ambitions. Do you build your side around experienced players, focus on bringing through younger talent or look to develop a balanced team capable of promotion?

The appeal of a save like this is the freedom to create your own story. Rather than taking charge of an established name, you can try to turn Trethomas Bluebirds into a club that becomes increasingly difficult to ignore in Welsh football.

Can you make the most of Chopra’s presence and build a side capable of achieving something special?

Penybont: Can you use your summer signings to topple The New Saints?

If you would rather begin with a club capable of challenging near the top of Welsh football, Penybont could be the save for you.

The club enjoyed a significant summer transfer window, bringing in former Football League players including Jonathan Leko and Tyler Walker. Those additions provide an intriguing foundation for a manager looking to close the gap on the Cymru Premier’s dominant force, The New Saints.

The challenge is to turn that individual quality into consistent performances across a full season. You will need to get the best out of your attacking options, build a balanced squad and ensure Penybont can compete against the league’s strongest sides.

There is also a wider objective to consider. With Wales looking to improve its European coefficient and regain four European places, a successful Penybont side could play an important part in raising the profile of the domestic game.

Can you turn the club into genuine title contenders and finally topple The New Saints? It could be one of the most rewarding challenges for anyone who wants to compete at the top from the outset.
