Splott Albion and Cardiff Cosmopolitan lead lower-league cup stories

The competition has once again provided opportunities for clubs from lower divisions to test themselves against higher-ranked opposition.

Splott Albion are the lowest-ranked team left in the FAW Amateur Trophy. The sixth-tier side have progressed after defeating a seventh-tier opponent, keeping their cup journey alive.

Cardiff Cosmopolitan have also enjoyed a notable run. The fifth-tier outfit defeated Newport Corinthians, who play two divisions above them, to secure their progression.

Both results underline the unpredictable nature of knockout football and the opportunities the competition provides for clubs outside the higher levels of the Welsh football pyramid.
