Mid Wales League side Berriew have announced their plans for a new 100 seated stand at the Recreation Ground.
Despite passing the requirements that the Huws Gray Alliance requires, Berriew have began plans to add a 100 seated stand to their ground so they can comply with FAW Tier 2 Licencing criteria, should they win promotion to the second tier of Welsh football in the next two years.
The club have sought funding by successfully applying for a grant from the ‘Welsh Grounds Improvement’ scheme, which is a sister organisation of the Welsh Football Trust. The club will receive £17,000 as they look to improve their ground with the new stand, as well as other ground improvements.
Speaking to the Berriew website, manager David Jones spoke on the plans for the club.
‘We are delighted to receive the grant of £17,700 towards the installation of a new 100 seater stand. The club is ambitious both on and off the pitch with the aim of hopefully attaining Huws Gray Alliance Football in the next few years, and in order to do so we will need to achieve the FAW Tier 2 Licensing criteria which becomes mandatory in April 2018 and this funding will of course help us towards this target.”
