Wingmakers make triple swoop as Premier League experience is added

Airbus UK added three more names to their squad for this season last night with the addition of Aaron Bowen, Kristian Platt and Leo Riley.

The Wingmakers have made impressive signings so far since their relegation from Welsh football’s top flight and have added more experience to their ranks.

Bowen, 26 from Liverpool, brings a wealth of experience with him from the WPL, across the border and overseas, having played for Skelmersdale United, Cammell Laird and Shepparton United in Australia.

He joined Barrow in 2013 and was loaned to Warrington Town before making the move permanent in late 2013. He then signed for Rhyl in June 2014 and was there until February 2016, he later went on to sign for Cefn Druids, scoring 12 goals from 42 appearances.

Released from Belle Vue in February 2016 due to personal circumstances, Bowen re-signed for Cammell Laird but returned to the WPL with Cefn Druids last season and scored 12 goals from his 37 league appearances.

Platt, 25, from Birkenhead has signed from recently relegated Stalybridge Celtic. He started his career off at Chester where he came on as a sub in his only game for the Blues in 2010 before making 132 appearances for Stalybridge.

After spending four years at Celtic, he went on to have short spells at Telford and Bala before re-signing for Stalybridge in 2016, where he was loaned out to Warrington Town.

Airbus have also signed 21 year-old defender Leo Riley. He was previously on the books at Tranmere, Bolton and Liverpool before signing for Llandudno in the summer of 2015, going on to make 20 appearances, plus 20 more as a substitute.

This Saturday the wingmakers play their second pre-season of the summer where they take on Vauxhall Motors at Rivacre Park with a 12.30 kick-off after suffering a home defeat to Whitchurch Alport last week.
