Ruthin Town sign Premier League shot-stopper Goldston

Cymru Alliance side Ruthin Town have signed goalkeeper Ryan Goldston from Welsh Premier League side Bala Town.

Ruthin looked dead set for relegation last season but a remarkable turnaround under manager Chris Williams saw them remain in the division and now he is looking to add to his squad.

The move from Bala to Ruthin was confirmed by Ruthin on their social media feeds on Monday afternoon. It is believed that the player had a range of options but has chosen Ruthin Town as the next club to develop at.

Goldston repreresented the Wales U18’s Academy squad last year and joined the club from the side he is returning to, Ruthin Town.

The St-Asaph born goalkeeper made an appearance against The New Saints towards the end of last season as the champions reigned victorious in a 6-4 victory.

Manager Chris Williams spoke to Ruthin’s Twitter feed on the signing, saying that Ruthin are the right club for the player.

“I’m happy that Ryan has committed to the club. He wanted to join a club with good lads & an environment that he would be happy in.

We both agreed that club is Ruthin. Being at Bala last season would have benefited him greatly,  I’m looking forward to start working with him.”

The former Lakesider joins fellow summer recruits Tomos Tryfan-Jones, Cai Williams, Mike Sharples and Elliot Slade, Tom Roberts, Tom Foulkes and Iolo Hughes.
