Wales C team manager Mark Jones has announced his all-Welsh Premier League squad for the upcoming international match against England.
Barry Town United take up a majority of the squad, with Mike Lewis, Chris Hugh, Jordan Cotterill and Kayne McLaggon all named in the squad.
Just two players from the JD Welsh Premier League Champions, are named with Connell Rawlinson and Aeron Edwards named.
The Connah’s Quay Nomads have Kai Edwards, Mike Pearson and Jay Owe included. Cardiff Metropolitan University attacking duo Eliot Evans and Adam Roscrow are rewarded for their early season form with a call-up.
There are also places for Cefn Druids Naim Arsam, Bangor City’s Danny Gosset, Aberystwyth Town’s John Owen and Llandudno’s Toby Jones.
Mark Jones’ side is scheduled to face England at Jenner Park Stadium on March 20th. It is the first semi-professional international game in over six years, after the match was announced back in January.
Jones who previously managed Carmarthen Town and Port Talbot Town, leading them to qualification to the Europa League Qualifiers, will be assisted by former Wales international and now Sgorio pundit Owain Tudur-Jones.
The selection process meant that Jones was only able to choose from the best Welsh-based players in the Welsh pyramid system, with Welsh players playing in the English system, for sides such as Colwyn Bay, Merthyr Town, and Wrexham omitted.
On the free weekend of the 17th March, where there are no scheduled Welsh Premier League fixtures, the squad will take part in a training camp ahead of the match.
