Cardiff Metropolitan University sign Llantwit Major forward Sam Snaith

JD Welsh Premier League side Cardiff Metropolitan University have added Llantwit Major forward Sam Snaith to their attacking line.

The 18-year-old had been on trial at League Two side Newport County in recent weeks, but has penned a deal with the Archers.

He was on the scoresheet in Met’s 1-1 home draw with South Wales rivals Barry Town United, partnering former Llantwit Major forward Adam Roscrow.

He made his first appearance for Christian Edwards’ side last week, in the 1-1 draw with National League South side Gloucester City.

The young forward made 23 appearances scoring 17 goals for Major’s first team. He also scored 40 goals in 20 games for the U19’s side. Snaith is a student at Bridgend College and scored nine goals for his college, as well three at College International level.

Snaith spent two seasons at Frampton Lane, having been given the opportunity of first team football at Llantwit Major at 16 by Karl Lewis.

First of all I’d like to thank Karl and everyone at Llantwit Major for the last two seasons,” said the departing Snaith.

“Without them I definitely wouldn’t be getting the opportunities that I currently am. I am however extremely happy to be joining Cardiff Met.

I have always been very impressed by the professionalism and ambition of the club. So therefore to be joining them is something I’m very excited about.

Snaith is the fifth signing of the summer for Cardiff Metropolitan University. They first signed Bangor City midfielder Guto Williams on a season-long loan.

Goalkeepers Alex Lang and Esa Aalto, as well as midfielder Matt Neale were the Archers previous business this transfer window.

Llantwit Major captain Rhys Llewellyn has also left the club, to take up a teaching role in the Philippines. Defender Connor Goldsworthy has also left the club as he begins a scholarship programme in the United States.
