Cwmbran Celtic defender Rakesh Patel has departed the club, it has been announced.
Patel had planned to leave at the end of the season, but personal commitments have prompted Patel to call time on his career with the Gwent club.
The Cwmbran skipper had spent 12 years at Celtic Park, tallying up 406 appearances.
“I have always put football and this club pretty much first, however, now it’s become impossible for me to do so,” revealed Patel.
“I love this club and will always be grateful for the memories that I have gained here along with the friendships that will last forever.
“I would like to wish the club the best of luck, I will be around watching as many games as possible.”
Celtic responded to Patel’s announcement with a statement reading: “The players, officials and supporters of the club wish Kesh and his family every good happiness in the future.
“We are pleased that Kesh will not be totally lost to the club as he intends to watch us whenever possible.”
He leaves Celtic with nine games remaining in the season, where they currently occupy one of the three relegation spots.
