Leeds United goalkeeper set for loan move to Aberystwyth Town

Leeds United goalkeeper Matthew Turner is set to join Aberystwyth Town on loan.

Turner, previously of Pontardawe Town’s academy, is to return to Wales with Aberystwyth.

He hails from Llanelli and has played for Wales U16s. Turner will now benefit from vital first-team experience in the Cymru Premier.

The 18-year-old will continue to train with Leeds United’s U23s whilst he spends time at Park Avenue.

Aberystwyth had Connor Roberts on loan from The New Saints last season and he did feature in a pre-season match, however, it seems it will be Alex Pennock and Turner vying for the number one shirt instead.

Gavin Allen has been busy in the transfer recruitment drive this summer and the completion of Turner’s loan deal adds to the number of new faces coming through the door.

Most recently, they signed midfielder Gwion Owen from Cymru North outfit Ruthin Town.
