James Kirby netted twice as Colwyn Bay ran out victorious against close rivals Buckley Town in the JD Cymru North.
A first-half dominated by Colwyn Bay and a deserved 3-0 lead at halftime. Buckley put up a good fight in the second half and showed flashes of their ability with a few clear chances not finding the net on this occasion.
The Bay remain in fourth spot with a big game in the race for the top four as Guilsfield host Ruthin Town.
Kirby fired the Bay ahead after just six minutes when he was found in space inside the area, the keeper came out leaving a perfect opportunity for a chip, Kirby provided with a fantastic finish to make it 1-0.
Kirby struck yet again with 26 minutes gone, a great team move led to a good ball in from the left wing to find Kirby who stroked the ball home with ease.
Five minutes before the half time whistle and the Bay made it three. Kirby was involved yet again as he squared the ball to Lindfield who netted at the back post.
McHarrie scored a consolation goal for Buckley in the second half with a low driven shot into the far corner, but Colwyn Bay held off a comeback to take the three points.
The Bay started the game very brightly and within six minutes they were ahead through main man Kirby who chipped the goalkeeper with a lovely finish.
It was nearly two for the Bay within 15 minutes when Cai Owen was found in space at the back post, he stretched for the ball but missed the target from close range.
Kieran Evans looked lively in the early stages, he fired over with just under 20 played after a few stepovers created some space for a shot.
Kirby struck his second of the match not long after, to finish off a fine team move down the left-hand side.
The Seagull’s first-half dominance was made even clearer five minutes from the halftime whistle when Kirby found Lindfield who netted to make it 3-0.
Colwyn Bay started the second as they ended the first with Kirby nearly finishing from close range after he was found with a great cross from the right-hand side.
It looked as though the Bay had their fourth goal with just under 65 played when Owen put in a wonderful cross to find Lindfield at the back post, he met the ball with a header that went narrowly wide.
The visitors grew into the game after this with a few half chances and a triple substitution for Buckley had a positive effect on their game.
There was hope for Buckley when McHarrie found the net with a low driven effort from outside the area to make it 3-1.
Kirby nearly sneaked in with another goal when he was fed by sub–Robbie Parry in the area, he went for a high powerful shot that just evaded the goal.
There was a half chance for Jones not long after as a scrappy passage of play ended up at his feet, he hit a shot, but it flew over.
Jones went close again with 78 played when he had an effort blocked off the line from a Bay defender in what was a very good spell for Buckley.
As the game edged closer to the full-time whistle there was one more chance for the Bay when Edwards hit a powerful low shot just wide of the mark.
