Penrhyndeudraeth eyeing successor to Cookson Cup finalist Jones

Welsh Alliance League side Penrhyndeudraeth following the departure of their manager Andrew Jones.

Jones who led the club to last seasons Cookson Cup final, where they suffered a defeat late on to Division One winners Glantraeth, took over the club after replacing former Porthmadog defender Mike Forster back in November.

The former UWIC man had the best of start as he was appointed, with five wins in his first six games as manager, winning the Welsh Alliance League manager of the month award for December.

Jones had spent a majority of his career in South Wales, for sides like Bridgend Town, Barry Town, Bryntirion, before joining North Wales side Nantlle Vale as well as joining Barmouth & Dyffryn and then making the move to Penrhyndeudraeth.

His time at Penrhyndeudraeth has been a relatively succeessful one, where as assistant-manager for three years, he was part of the management staff that were FAW Trophy finalists and Mawddach Challenge Cup winners.

He led the club to a top six finish this season and departs the club with the board appreciative of his time spent with the club.

The club have released a statement signalling what they want to see in their next manager.

“The Club would like to appoint a new manager/management team as soon as possible. Previous experience of managing/coaching at Welsh Alliance League level (or higher) would be an advantage, although not essential.”
