Welsh Football magazine’s next issue will be published in a few days’ time and we have an exclusive preview of what’s included in the November edition.
In recent issues, there has been limited space for our popular club spotlight features – issue 190 was the end-of-season special, 191 was the Euro 2016 celebration issue, and 192 was dominated by coverage of the Welsh Groundhop. So the November issue has three clubs in the spotlight – a full history of Aberystwyth League club Padarn United, and profiles of two contrasting north-east Wales clubs, Rhydymwyn (whose history is full of peaks, troughs and revivals) and Llay Welfare (who have been plying their trade with a minimum of drama in Wrexham area football for decades).
Issue 193 also looks at the latest news from all the Welsh competitions, and analyses the rather turbulent current times at the Welsh clubs playing across the border in English football. The ‘Anglo’ clubs also feature quite prominently in our history feature, which looks at football in Wales exactly 25 years ago, in late 1991. It was the time of the ‘Irate Eight’ and their resistance to the League of Wales, and we analyse the mood in the exiles’ camp through comments in their match programmes of late 1991.
Readers of Welsh Football magazine look forward eagerly to our cover images – described in some quarters as “Groundhopper porn” – and we’ve followed up issue 192’s wonderful cover image of a packed Blandy Park, Garw with a bucolic image of scenic CPD Llanuwchllyn in Merionethshire.
