Second meets third in the Spar Mid Wales League Second Division on Saturday, when Builth Wells make the long trip to the Cardigan Bay coast to face unbeaten Borth United.
The Crows were only kept off the top spot this week on goals scored – they have identical points and goal difference as leaders Kerry, although the Lambs have played two more games. So if Borth can better Kerry’s result on Saturday, the leading pair will swap places.
Borth have an almost perfect home record so far, having only dropped points in a draw with north Ceredigion rivals Dolgellau in the opening week of the season, whereas Builth have lost a couple of times on their travels, most recently in a 5-4 thriller at Abermule.
Last weekend, both sides were again involved in high-scoring games, with Builth held to a 4-4 draw by Dyffryn Banw while Borth just edged a 4-3 win over Abermule.
Both Borth and Builth are currently in their third seasons in this division, having arrived in 2014 from different directions – the Crows on promotion from the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League, and the Bulls on relegation from Division One.
In both of the last two seasons, Builth Wells have finished in fifth position – with Borth just below them.
Borth manager Ian Lewis has continued to strengthen his squad in recent weeks, with the arrival of striker Ryan Davies from Bow Street and teenage midfielder Liam Berner from Aberystwyth Town’s academy, but the Crows’ promotion credentials should be tested by the Wyeside visitors this week.
If recent results are a guide, goals should not be in short supply at the Uppingham Playing Fields.
