Risca United have today announced that Assistant Manager and WPL Developmental Coach Simon Berry will take over the reigns of the club, following Paul Michael’s departure to Cinderford.
He was originally announced as caretaker manager whilst a replacement was found but the Risca Committee believe he is the man to take the club forward.
In a statement released on the Risca United website, both Berry and the committee commented on the appointment.
“I am very pleased to have been given the Risca United job on a permanent basis, I feel it was a natural progession having been at the club for the last sixteen months in the roles of Assistant Manager and Development Team Manager.
“The club has an excellent structure in place from the academy setup through to the Youth, Development, Reserve and First Team.”
“Simon Berry has already been working hard behind the scenes preparing for our next league game, we congratulate him on his appointment and now look forward to focusing on the future with a new manager who already understands and is committed to the clubs structure and philosophy.”
Simon Berry’s first game in charge will be against Haverfordwest County at home on the 19th November.
