IWAN WILLIAMS:WE’LL BE LOOKING FOR A REACTION AGAINST PORT

Caernarfon Town host Porthmadog over the festive period, Cofis manager Iwan Williams gives his pre-match thoughts.

After suffering defeat in the vital clash against Prestatyn Town last week, Caernarfon manager Iwan Williams is looking for a reaction from his side in the Gwynedd Derby against Porthmadog.

“We’ll definitely be looking for a reaction. As disappointing as the result was on Saturday, we can’t dwell on it, so we’ll re-group and look forward to a derby game against Porthmadog.”

After missing key players for the Prestatyn game, Williams has three at least back for the Porthmadog game.

“We were missing 5 senior players for the Prestatyn game so a huge positive is that we’ll have at least three of them available for the Porthmadog game!

It’s not an excuse but we missed some balance in terms of experience within the side against Prestatyn. We weren’t at our best and didn’t keep the ball as well as we can. We did though stay in the game which is one positive but that’s as much as I can say! ”

Asked if Caernarfon can still catch Prestatyn despite the nine point gap, Williams remains optimistic.

“Yes it’s definitely out of our hands however there are still fourteen games to go so anything can happen. We’re only concentrating on ourselves though so will look to address our faults at Bastion Gardens and look to make amends against Porthmadog.”

Caernarfon host Porthmadog at The Oval on Saturday, with it being the Cofis first home fixture at this time in three years.

“It does give you an advantage however I think it’s the first time in three years that Caernarfon have had a home fixture over Christmas.

In derby games it doesn’t matter if you’re playing home or away, anything can happen so we need to ensure we’ve dust ourselves down and give everything we can for the Caernarfon faithful in order to get the win.”
