Gresford host Caernarfon Town as both teams in their own fine form look to battle for the three points, Gresford manager Steve Halliwell spoke pre-match.
Gresford are currently on a five match unbeaten run, which gives manager Steve Halliwell confidence going into the game.
“It’s vitally important that we keep the momentum going into Saturday’s game; we know that Caernarfon have quality throughout their side and we will need to be very organised to with stand the pressure that they will no doubt put up on us.”
Halliwell paid tribute to last season’s Champions, praising the quality of the opposition.
“We feel that we have a very solid defensive team and can pose a threat to any team going forward, this will undoubtedly be the toughest test of my managerial reign since I hung the boots up!”
Many neutral fans have paid credit to Gresford due to the way Gresford go about things, with Halliwell saying that this isn’t a fluke and the team are there on merit.
“As for being an organised unit that is down to the quality of the lads that we have in the changing rooms and their ability to take information on and put it onto the pitch.
We find ourselves in fourth position in the league at the midway point of the season and it is my aim to finish the season as strongly as we have finished the first half of it, it’s no fluke where we are we are here due to the commitment and determination of everybody involved at the football club.”
On how Halliwell sees the game panning out?
“I expect a tough game but one I fully expect us to perform to our highest level and not let the occasion beat us. We are very strong defensively and can cause teams all kinds of problems going forward with the pace and quality of the midfielder and strikers.
As most players move in the January window, Halliwell spoke on how the club will approach in such a proactive month..
We are certainly looking to strengthen our squad it’s finding the right person to fit in all aspects of our team, we could panic as we have a small squad and pick the first person we see!! But I’ve been actively seeking reinforcements for the past couple of weeks and I’m quite hopeful of them being announced before next Saturday’s game at Guilsfield, fingers crossed!!
