Port Talbot Town have completed the signing of Philadelphia Fury midfielder Scott McCoubrey.
The 28 year-old who has had experience with a handful of Welsh sides has previously turned out for Afan Lido, Haverfordwest County and Aberdare Town. He has also enjoyed time in the United States and Canada, featuring for K-W United, Southwest Florida Andrenaline and now his former club Philadelphia Fury.
Manager Paul Evans has previously worked alongside Scott during their time together at Afan Lido in which he won the Goal of the Season in the 2013/2014 season.
McCoubrey scored a 40 yard free-kick for Southwest Florida against Oscala Stampede which you can see here.
Speaking to the official Port Talbot Town website, manager Paul Evans praised the signing of McCoubrey.
“I know Scott well from our time at Lido. The first thing you’ll notice with Scott is his athleticism, he’s so confident on the ball and he’s a good team player. He’s a good addition to the squad and hopefully he’s going to be an important cog in the wheel that keeps us away from the relegation zone in the coming months.
He did well during his time at Afan Lido and he’s proved he can play at a good level with his spells at clubs over in the states. He’s got the drive and experience needed to help push this team forward.”
McCoubrey could make his debut on Saturday for Port Talbot with their game against league leaders Goytre.
