Nomads appoint Scout in transition to full time football

gap Connah’s Quay Nomads today signalled their intentions to becoming a full time professional football club with the appointment of a chief scout.

Dean Garnett has joined the club to assist head coaches Andy Morrison and Jay Catton in forming an elite full time development squad for the 2017/18 season.

Garnett, a former Cambridge United and Preston North End scout, will seek players aged 18-23 for the squad which the club say will be an integral part of the Nomads’ first team.

Speaking to the club’s official website, club owner Gary Dewhurst said:

“Our clear intention is to make the league more competitive at the top level and I hope the FAW and Welsh fans in general support this initiative.

“As the only full-time team in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League, many have argued that TNS should win every game, they are playing against lads who spend Monday to Friday working in warehouses, factories and offices, rushing to train two nights a week at best.

“What we cannot deny, full time or not, Craig Harrison has built a formidable side that are the benchmark for any ambitious club in the league. The next 12 months should be extremely interesting.”

Completely off their heads. How on earth do they hope to sustain a full-time football club? It’s as if the lessons taught to everyone by Barry, Neath and Llanelli were totally wasted.

Owner has a got a few bob to invest and European qualification/Euros will be the priority. This is the TNS business model and judging by what i have read so far,Bangor will go down the same path.
Will it make the league better or worse? Time will tell.
