Bangor City fullback Gary Roberts has been handed a six match suspension by the FAW after he picked up his 15th yellow card of the season against Bala Town last weekend and a straight red card later on in the same game.
The Citizens’ captain has remarkably been banned for three games already this season, having been banned for one match after he picked up five yellow cards and a further two match ban when his total of bookings reached 10. However, the latest ban will see his number of missed games for the season rise to nine.
The 30 year-old will miss three games for picking up his 15th booking of the term and a further three games for his straight red card. Having been a key player for the club this season, Roberts will be sorely missed in their defence, and Ian Dawes will hardly be pleased by this latest news which sees him lose a vital cog in the side as he tries to guide his side to the higher echelons of the table come the end of the season.
Bangor currently sit in fourth place on 36 points, some seven points behind both gap Connah’s Quay and Bala Town. Roberts will now have to wait until the end of March for his next appearance should he win his place back in the squad.
