Caersws boss Graham Evans says that his side need to defend better as a unit as his side host Caernarfon Town in today’s fixture.
Graham Evans was disappointed to lose in the last minute at Prestatyn and felt for his players at the end of the game.
“It was bitterly disappointing and I felt for the lads. We showed tremendous character and fight having been 2-0 down at half time to get ourselves back level, especially after harshly being reduced to 10 men at 2-1. We missed 2 clear cut chances to put us ahead and to be honest looking at the 2nd half you’d have thought it was us with the extra man! A point over the 90 minutes would probably have been fair but to go and lose it injury time was difficult to take.”
Evans is expecting a tough difficult game against Caernarfon Town and credits Iwan Williams for building a strong team.
“It’ll be equally as difficult as Prestatyn but one I’m looking forward to. Iwan has built a strong squad at Caernarfon over the past 2 seasons, always has them well organised and are a big threat going forward. We’ll be going out to win it though but will need to show exactly the same desire and work rate as we did last week.”
Evans said for his team to come together and defend better as a team, looking to frustrate sides.
“We need to more tighter and better as a unit. The team know we need to better and we’ve got to improve. We do need to be tighter but defending starts from the front and we’ve needed to be better as a unit. At times it’s our over eagerness to go on the attack leaving ourselves too open, missed chances plus basic individual errors have cost us at key moments in some games. These things all add up but we’re all in it together. The lads know we need to improve this area and we’ll need to do so starting Saturday.”
The performance last week has set the standard for the players and the reminder of the season.
“The performance last week has set the bar for what Macca and I expect for the remainder of the season. We have challenged the lads to go unbeaten, but will go about it match by match to ensure we finish as high as possible.”
Evans says Caersw’s home form has been unacceptable and wants his team to do something about it and repay the Caersws fans.
“Most certainly. Our home record simply hasn’t been acceptable and if it had mirrored our away form we’d be a few places higher that’s for sure. 6 out of our last 8 league games are at home so it’s a good chance for us to do something about it and repay our loyal home fans that turn up week in week out.
Caersws have picked up some injuries and suspensions but Evans is confident he will field a similar squad as last week.
“We picked up a few knocks last week so there’ll be a few late checks but am hoping it will be a similar squad again. We are however without Josh Hartrick who begins a 3 match suspension after his controversial sending off and are again still without Callum Hawthorne, Lance Jones, Graham Jones, Jake Parr and Scott Williams, all through injury.
