Cunnngham says Mold need points in vital Conwy fixture

Mold Alexandra boss Mike Cunningham says the uncertainty of not knowing how many teams go down, means his side will have to get a result against Conwy this Saturday.

For most teams, their fate isn’t secure and it will all balance on if Rhyl come down to the Huws Gray Alliance or so tomorrow but for Mold, a win against the side just below them by a point, could give them a bit of breathing space.

“A win Saturday is a small step towards safety but with uncertainty over how many down we know we will need to get something out of final game at home to Holywell.”

Asked if he was looking forward to the game with so much on it, Cunningham replied ‘Yes and No’!

“All the lads are looking forward to it as we feel we have let ourselves down in the last two games and thrown away 6 points, with so much riding on the game it will be a hard one to look to forward to but we know what we have to do.”

Mold’s joint boss is expecting a tough game because of the quality Conwy have in their team.

“Saturday will be very tough Conwy have a lot of quality in there side and both sides know 3 points are massive, so it will be down to which set of players hold there nerve.”

Cunningham has reflected since re-joining Mold and he’s excited for next season, signalling his commitment to the club.

“I’ve very much enjoyed it, there has been some ups and downs along the way with so much quality in league each game is a tough game and you can play very well and still get nothing from a game. With teams coming up and down next season looks to be very exciting so we want to make sure we are part of it.”
