With only 3 games remaining of the Welsh Premier League 2016/2017 season, it’s time for fans to pick their clubs player of the season.
For Bangor City fans, it will be ultimately be between two players: Henry Jones and Gary Roberts.
Both players were new signings during the opening summer transfer window, and have both made the Welsh Premier League their own.
HENRY JONES
Henry Jones, a dangerous attacking midfield who with superb vision, and an excellent right foot to back him up, makes for a deadly player. No doubt when teams face the Citizens, the manager has singled out Jones in his tactics. Since joining in the summer his form has not diminished, providing the side with goals and assists.
The Welshman, who joined from Swansea City, will be at the top of many fans lists of player of the season, his excellent and consistent form puts him in good stead to take the title in his first season.
GARY ROBERTS
Another candidate is fellow new signing and midfielder Gary Roberts. Despite being a midfielder, he’s occupied the right back position at Nantporth. His quick adaptation to the role has been crucial to the Citizens season. Defensively strong, Gary Roberts has been an integral part of Bangor’s defense. However, as a full back he also offers surging runs and provides an addition attacking options.
With a powerful shot and a pinpoint accurate cross, along with being in outstanding form and a critical cog in the City machine, Roberts has been a fine addition.
THE VERDICT?
Despite Captain Gary Roberts contribution this season, his excellent form and the fact he’s been playing out of position all season, I think Henry Jones will just pip Roberts. Henry Jones’ has been equally as excellent, but his double figure goal tally can not be ignored.
However, Antony Miley deserves a shout too. The all heart and passion centre back who gives his all every game. Wearing his heart on his sleeve, Miley will not let you down defensively. Strong and determined, and with bags of passion. Lethal from set pieces, it isn’t a surprise to see him on the score sheet. A fan favorite who has been in consistently good form all season.
