Caernarfon Town have added to their squad again during the post-season by signing Holyhead Hotspur captain Rhys Roberts and Caersws forward Mark Griffiths.
The 31 year-old who can can play as a centre-back as well as a left-back makes the move after four years at The New Oval.
He adds experience to the Caernarfon back four, as well as Premier League pedigree after featuring for Airbus UK and Porthmadog in the top flight of Welsh football.
Griffiths joins Caernarfon after 2 years at Caersws after rejoining them from Welsh Premier League side Newtown after an initial eight years at the Recreation Ground.
Cofis manager Iwan Williams played alongside Griffiths in his final full season as a player before going into management at The Oval.
Speaking to the official Caernarfon Town website, the popular manager described what Griffiths can offer to the team and even went out to say he is one of the best strikers in the division.
“Mark for me is up there as one of the best strikers in the league. Having played with Mark in my last full season as a player at Caersws I know exactly the qualities he has and what he will bring to this football club.
With an injury to Grahame Austin, Williams looked for a left-sided player and has found one in Roberts, praising his attitude as he assembles a squad capable of challenging for promotion next season.
“I’m delighted to have signed highly experienced Holyhead Hotspur captain Rhys Roberts for the forthcoming season.
Rhys is one of the most professional of footballers I’ve shared a dressing room with, and, having been captain at nearly every club he’s been at, it’s safe to say that his attitude is second to none. He’s a commanding centre half who can mix it with the most physical of strikers. He’s left footed so can offer us balance also which is something we haven’t had since losing Grahame Austin through a long term back injury.
Roberts and Griffiths are the second and third signings for Caernarfon in the post season after Gareth Evans moved to the club last week.
