Barry Town United have added to their attacking ranks with the signing of former Southampton striker Kayne McLaggon.
McLaggon who has featured for Wales U18 and U19 teams was recently playing for Merthyr Town in the Southern League Premier has joined on a two-year contract.
In total, he has scored 83 goals in 160 appearances in his career, with over 20 goals for his recent side Merthyr.
The 26 year-old who was born in Barry has returned to the town he was brought up in.
Speaking to the official Barry Town United website, McLaggon spoke of how the opportunity to play for his hometown club was too much of an opportunity to turn down.
“The opportunity to play for my hometown club in their first year back in our country’s national league was too good an offer to turn down.
“Gavin and the club have a vision and as a Barry boy, I am excited to be a part of it.”
Manager Gavin Chesterfield also spoke of the signing and said he’s a player he’s wanted to work with for some time.
Manager Gavin Chesterfield added “Kayne is an experienced player who adds much quality to our already talented squad.
“He is a player I have wanted to work with for some time and I am delighted to finally have him with us”.
“Kayne signing adds real dynamism to our front line and further builds on the signing of exciting young winger Sam Jones.”
