Conwy Borough continue recruitment charge as five arrive at Y Morfa

Conwy Borough and Gareth Thomas have continued their summer transfer business with the signing of five more players.

The Tangerines were relegated last season and will have mostly a completely different squad from the season gone past.

The moves now see Conwwy have up to ELEVEN new players that could turn out for them when the new season begins in August.

Gareth Thomas has once again looked to those with experience of winning the Welsh Alliance as he adds a fifth Glantraeth player in Gethin Maxwell.

The 24 year-old centnral-midfielder was a youth player at the now defunct Chester City before making his way to the capital for studies, playing for Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Thomas has also added pace into hiss side with the signing of 21 year-old forward Phil Warrington who joins from Caernarfon Town, having had experience in the Welsh Premier League for Bangor City.

Conwy have also sought competition in the goalkeeping department, with Nantlle Vale goalkeeper Ceiron Hall making the move to Y Morfa. He and Ryan Woods will compete to be in between the sticks for the upcoming season after joining from Abergele Town. The Abergele man was already at the club during Aden Shannon’s time at the club.

Completing the quintuple signing is Rhys Cooper who has joined from Mold Alexandra. He has previously played for the youth sides of The New Saints and Bangor City.

Rounding up the signings, Conwy Borough boss Gareth Thomas said to the official website of Conwy Borough, that he is aiming to build a young squad with a hunger to succeed.

“We are trying to get a young squad together with a hunger to succeed and these players have bought into this.” said the Conwy Borough manager. The players have had opportunities to go to other clubs but they where all happy to sign and look to help the club get back challenging for honours.”
