Pontypridd Town sign up Wales U21 international Jamal Easter as Hill commits to club

Pontypridd Town have pulled off somewhat of a marquee signing as they welcome former Cardiff City youth Jamal Easter to USW Sports Park.

Easter who is the younger brother of former Crystal Palace and full Wales international player in Pontypridd’s colours for the first time yesterday in the clubs 6-1 pre-season win over Cardiff based side Llanrumney United.

He has since put pen-to-paper and penned a deal that will see him play at Pontypridd Town for the upcoming season.

The 29 year-old has played both in the English and Welsh pyramid system, having played professionally for clubs like Bristol Rovers and Torquay United.

The Cardiff born striker has represented his country at Wales U17, Wales U19 and Wales U19 level, accumalating eight caps.

Easter has played for Carmarthen Town in the Welsh Premier League, where he scored 9 times in 29 appearances after leaving Cardiff City in the summer of 2007.

He left Carmarthen Town to join then at the time non-league Neeport County before returning to Richmond Park for a brief spell as he then ventured to Western League Premier Division side Clevdon Town.

The forward then returned to Welsh football in 2010 as he joined for Division One side Taffs Well where he had a respectable season with the Wellman. His goals didn’t go amiss as he was then later signed by Bridgend Town who now operate under the nae of Penybont.

He has since spent time with Rhoose in Division Three of the Welsh League under former Cardiff City footballer Paul Giles.

The club have spoken on both Jamal Easter signing for the club and the news that James Hill is to remain the club, with both subject to interest before committing their futures to Pontypridd.

“We are delighted that both Jamal and James have committed to us for the upcoming season. They have both received high levels on interest, but both believe in what we are trying to achieve as a club and want to play their part in it.

We are delighted James has resigned, he’s been a fantastic servant to the club and is integral in how we play. Jamal will compliment the squad in how he tried to play and has told us he cannot wait to get started.”

The club also announced that forward James Hill has committed to the season for a fifth year in a row, adding to what is a strong front-line for the Dragons.
