Flint Town United on the hunt for new first team manager

Huws Gray Alliance side Flint Town have opened the application process for a new first team manager.

The club hired well respected ex-Hibs and Everton coach Andy Holden in the summer, but after three wins from nine games, the club parted ways with Holden as the Silkmen slipped to 11th in the 16-team league.

Flint have specified their new manager must be at an A licence standard or working towards one, and buy into Flint’s vision for the future as it looks to build on its long-time reputation as a strong tier-two outfit. A statement on the club’s website also highlighted the need for attributes including man-management, key recruiting and the ability to promote youth.

The successful applicant will also have a new signing to work with as the club today announced the signing of Wade Maxwell, an attacking midfielder who learnt his trade as a Liverpool U18s player. Subject to international clearance, he joins the club after catching the eye of interim manager Aden Shannon.

Flint’s new manager will be tasked with engineering a quick climb up the table to challenge league giants Airbus UK, who sit top of the Huws Gray closely followed by Caernarfon Town.

After their 1-0 derby win over Holywell in the league cup, Flint return to league action away to basement boys Llandudno Junction on Saturday 28 November for a 14:30pm kick off.
