Evans and Griffiths pick up monthly gongs

Cardiff Met Uni’s Eliot Evans and Cefn Druids manager Huw Griffiths have been awarded the Welsh Premier League Player and Manager of the Month respectively for October.

After a blistering October, which saw Met reach as high as second place, Evans was awarded the top flight’s Player of the Month along with Griffiths, who was named Manager of the Month after an unbeaten month for the Ancients.

The Students have started the season in blistering form and much of this is down to their attacking force this season. Adam Roscrow has already bagged eight goals in front of goal this term, two more than last term and Evans has been the perfect partner for the forward this term.

Evans has himself notched four times this season in the league. Two of those came in October in a massive victory for the Archers against high flying Bangor City. Two goals in seven minutes helped the Met to overcome a 2-0 deficit to go on to win the game.

Cefn Druids have also had a fantastic season so far, having picked up only three losses so far this term and October was another solid month for the Ancients. A draw against Newtown was followed up by a magnificent 3-1 away victory over Barry Town United. A draw against Carmarthen Town ensued before they produced the result of the weekend against Bangor City, with a resolute 1-0 win.

Once tipped for relegation, Griffiths has made his Druids side hard to beat this term and they currently sit fifth in the table after five fantastic victories, and look comfortable in the top half despite the presence of Bala and Llandudno looming large just beneath them.

Both Evans and Griffiths will be looking to celebrate their successes with a positive November as Phase One of the Welsh Premier League hots up, with both Met and Druids looking to consolidate their places in the top six before the end of the first half of the season.
