The former chief scout of Connah’s Quay Nomads has joined Welsh National League Division One title chasers Brymbo FC.
Garnett, who joins Brymbo as they look for promotion back to the third tier Premier Division after relegation in the summer, will join up with manager Phil Hudson and ex-TNS man Tommy Holmes.
He joins the club with a scouting background, having worked for clubs including Cambridge United, Tamworth and Preston North End.

Speaking to Y Clwb Pel Droed, he explained why he’s joined the ambitious Brymbo outfit.
“Brymbo is my local club now as me and my wife bought a new build there 4 years ago, plus when I’ve played up there I’ve always rated and enjoyed the pitch/facilities, it’s a friendly and welcoming environment and most importantly the club has huge potential and plenty of ambition. I’m looking forward to helping Phil/Tommy until the end of the season.”
He was most recently a coach at Llanfyllin Town U19s, and is looking to use his scouting experience to become an effective coach in the game.
“I have quite a bit of scouting experience and gained this with the likes of Cambridge, Preston North End and Connah’s Quay Nomads and I will be helping Phil/Tommy by covering local games/teams to give us the best preparation for our games.
“Then this will be brought in/used in our training sessions/games where I will also help/coach alongside the management. I’m eager to learn and become a good coach with the great opportunity which has been given to me.”
Garnett has been brought in with Brymbo currently top of the league as Maesgwyn and Rhos Aelwyd look to battle it out with them for the title. But Garnett says that by sticking to what they know, the title could be theirs come the end of the season.
Brymbo have had a great start to the season and both the management/players deserve the praise they are getting at the moment. There is plenty to play for but if they keep playing the football the way they are and keep their focus then I fully believe Brymbo can win the league and gain promotion.
