Where will the Nathaniel MG Cup final be played?

After a Ryan Brobbel wonder goal was enough to beat Connah’s Quay on Monday night, the Nathaniel MG Cup final will once again feature TNS who are this time against a high flying Cardiff Met.

And as is the case every year, the chosen neutral venue for the final will be a hot topic amongst both sets of supporters.

The occasion will be a historic one for Cardiff Met as it is their first ever major cup final, whilst TNS’ Scott Ruscoe will be eager to secure some silverware with expectations as high as ever at Park Hall.

Cardiff Met could benefit from a South Wales ground, as their own Cyncoed Campus was the host of TNS vs Barry Town in last season’s final.

The Southern grounds in question are Carmarthen’s Cymru Tyres Stadium and Barry Town’s historic Jenner Park which would both provide atmospheric settings with a potential Student following backing the Archers.

Moving into Mid Wales, Aberystwyth’s Park Avenue is ready and set to host games such as these after the installation of a new 3G last season.

Newtown’s Latham Park will also be an option for the league administration, as it is a proven big game venue having hosted numerous finals and semi finals in recent years.

Regardless of venue, the game will be one of the biggest in Cardiff Met’s short but impressive history as they go against a TNS who are well aware of the Student’s strength.

Met are currently second in the JD Welsh Premier, and are joint on points with first placed TNS as the chances of a real title race involving both sides heat up.

To reach the final, Met have defeated Welsh Football League sides Goytre FC, Pontypridd Town and JD Welsh Premier outfits Barry Town and Newtown in the quarters and semi final respectively.

TNS met Connah’s Quay for the second consecutive time in the semi finals, having entered the competition in round two. On their way they beat off Flint Town United and Caernarfon Town.

Keep an eye on the official JD Welsh Premier League site for news of the confirmed final venue expected in the next few days, with all the reaction right here at Y Clwb Pel Droed.
