Taffs Well recorded their first League win since the 30th September, as they beat a Kingfishers side without a win in seven.
The Wellmen, under the caretaker charge of Adie Harris following the departure of Lee Bridgeman, will have been relieved to have taken the three points, given their hard work and endeavour throughout the game.
Monmouth, on the other hand, will be left pondering on how such a collapse happened, given their strong defensive display until the 73rd minute.
From the kick-off, Kieran Knight was forced to clear off of the line after Sam Johnson was allowed to shoot following a good run by the supporting King Junior, a regular occurrence throughout the night.
Monmouth’s only real chance of an attack in the first half came when Craig Lewis almost found Lewis Clare, but Taffs Well skipper Tom Burridge made a crucial block to deny the front-man.
The bottom three side tried the direct approach in the second half as Asa Kirkland launched the ball forward, almost finding Lewis Clare, but they were left frustrated.
In a rare Monmouth attack, Josh Gould needed to palm the ball away from goal, with Lewis Davies almost finding substitute Jac Hardman, who replaced Sam Oxley on the hour mark.
Burridge repeated his first-half heroics in the second half, putting in a well-timed challenge on Lewis Clare, just as the striker was about to pull the trigger at goal.
Sam Johnson had many close chances to put his side in the lead was presented with a golden opportunity after Luke Cleaves pulled down Well winger Junior Domingez for a penalty.
Johnson finally hit the back of the net as he hit his penalty low into the corner, despite Kirkland guessing the right way.
King Junior Domingez caught Kirkland off guard with a stunning long-range strike as the Kingfishers keeper could only look on in despair as Domingez wheeled away in celebration after such a magnificent effort.
In what was the last action of the game, recent signing Jacob Matthews who joined from Cambrian & Clydach celebrated a goal on his debut as he slid the ball past Kirkland with a neat finish.
Taffs Well travel to Undy Athletic on Saturday, whilst Monmouth Town host Briton Ferry Llansawel at their Blestium Steet home.
