As we emerge from the post-festive fixtures, the Welsh Alliance League Divisions 1 and 2 continue to see out their round of fixtures. With interesting ties in both divisions, we preview what the LockStock Alliance has to offer this coming weekend.
Welsh Alliance Division 1
This weekend, in the first division, there is a plethora of exciting ties. The highlight of this weekend’s fixtures sees second face fourth, as Llangefni make the short trip across the Strait to take on Llanberis. A win for Llangefni could take them within a point of leaders Conwy Borough, who sit atop the table with 33 points, but a game in hand over their second placed rivals.
Meanwhile, sandwiched in between the two, third place Llanrwst Utd entertain Pwllheli. Llanrwst will be looking to keep pace with the top two with a win, while Pwllheli will be looking to turn round their fortunes as a run of recent results has seen them pick up only one victory in six games.
Barmouth & Dyffryn travel to Mynydd llandegai this weekend too, and will be hoping to pick up all three points. as they look to put some distance between themselves and the bottom two of Treaddur Bay and Nantlle Vale. Goals have been a problem of late for the Magpies, however, and will be something Mynydd may look to exploit.
Bottom side, Nantlle Vale entertain Greenfield, and will be hoping a clash in the bottom half of the table will help their endeavours for survival. Whilst, Llandudno Albion, who convincingly ended Conwy Borough’s unbeaten league run, travel to Penrhyndeudraeth and there is a massive six pointer at the foot of the table, as second bottom side Trearddur make a trip to the City to take on St Asaph. Both sides currently stand on 13 points with City having a superior goal difference. Not much separates the sides, with an outcome too tough to call.
Welsh Alliance Division 2
This weekend, Division 2 is set to be an exciting weekend for fans and clubs alike.
At the top of the table, leaders Glan Conwy host a tricky encounter with Amlwch Town, as first meets third. Conwy sit comfortably in first, with a 13 point lead over second placed Prestatyn Sports, however this is virtue of having played eight games more than their challengers.
The other big game of the day is at Y Felinheli, where Bodedern Athletic travel down the A55, to face their Division 2 counterparts. Both sides are in form and win for both could do their promotion chances a big boost.
Elsewhere, Prestatyn Sports welcome Blaenau Ffestiniog and Penmaenmawr Phoenix hop into Anglesey to face Llanfairpwll. Both sides are experiencing indifferent form of late, Llanfairpwll’s with the worse of the two, having not won in over six games.
Mochdre Sports take on second bottom, Cemaes Bay, Meliden welcome Pentraeth, Aberffraw play host to Llanefydd and an Anglesey derby sees Llannerchymedd make a quick trip over to Gaerwen. The visitors have a bit of breathing space between themselves and near neighbours Llanfairpwll, but a win could see the that gap seem that much better come Saturday evening.
