As we head into the second half of the season, the Welsh National League Premier Division and the Welsh National League Division One have thrown up some exciting fixtures, as we kick off 2018 in the Welsh domestic game. We preview this weekend’s round of fixtures.
Welsh National League Premier Division
One of the more exciting fixtures of the weekend sees top take on bottom on Saturday, as high-flying Brickfield Rangers welcome Coedpoeth United. The visitors are winless so far this season and it’s going to be a tough ask to break their duck come the weekend against a strong Brickfield side.
Chirk entertain Buckley Town in one of the day’s biggest games. Buckley are in form at the moment and will be going into this one full of confidence but, Chirk is a difficult place to visit and Buckley will be well aware of the difficult challenge that awaits them this weekend. Corwen will look to keep pace with the promotion chasing pack as they travel north to Connah’s Quay and take on strugglers FC Nomads.
Penycae take on Hawarden, desperately seeking points so they don’t get cut adrift at the bottom of the division. Llanuwchllyn will look to get their promotion ambitions back on track as they travel over into Wrexham and Stansty Park, to face Lex Glyndwr.
Finally, Llay Welfare welcome Mold Alex and Rhostyllen take on Saltney Town, who could go top, if results work in their favour on Saturday.
Welsh National League Division One
In Division 1, there are more exciting fixtures to feast your eyes on.
Maesgwyn are at home to Brymbo, in this weekend’s big match. Maesgwyn could cut Brymbo’s lead atop the division to just one point with a win, but Brymbo hold the advantage of still only having played nine games.
New Brighton Villa, take a short trip to Castell AC, Mynydd Isa Spartans, travel to Llangollen and Rhos Aelwyd will look to keep things tight at the top as they take on second bottom, Overton Rec.
Rhydymwyn will look to start 2018 on a good note, as they entertain Cefn Mawr Rangers, who still will harbour hopes of promotion with only five points separating them and top side Brymbo.
