The key aspects learnt as Michael Bakare stars and clinical Nomads prove too good for Cardiff Met in Welsh Capital

JD Welsh Premier League

Goals from Michael Bakare and Jay Owen were enough to move Andy Morison’s side up into second place above Bala Town in the JD Welsh Premier League, but what were the main aspects learned?

The win meant that the Nomads have taken four points from their first two games in phase two of the JD Welsh Premier League, but, the Archers, on the other hand, have struggled, and have lost both of their games in their first two games of phase two – conceding five goals and have failed to score themselves thus far.

We take a look below the key aspects learned from Cyncoed Campus below…

Michael Bakare shows class in menacing display for visitors

Bakare was a constant menace for the Nomads throughout. He expertly put his goal in the bottom left-hand corner and was their most influential attacking outlet in the first-half. His goal was more than deserved through the pure determination and perseverance he possessed.

Met struggled to deal with his presence, and he showed his class when it mattered the most as his goal separated the two sides in the Welsh capital.

Nomads show defensive quality in solid display in South Wales

Morison’s side were superb defensively once again this season against the students. They proved why they have the best defensive record in the league, having conceded on just 21 occasions in 24 encounters so far this season.

Met striker Adam Roscrow started for Met after returning last week in the 3-0 loss to Bangor City, but the Archers second top scorer was once again ineffective in the defeat in South Wales as the visitors defended resolutely throughout.

Met lack attacking edge in defeat

Before phase two, Met were clinical in front of goal, even without the influence of Adam Roscrow, who took the league by storm in the opening month of the season.

However, in today’s encounter, they lacked any sort of attacking sharpness. Christian Edwards left top scorer Elliot Evans on the bench, but he made a cameo appearance in the second-half.

However, both him and Roscrow struggled to make an impact and the students need that to improve upon that, especially if they’re to challenge for a top three place in the JD Welsh Premier League come the end of the season.
