Sean Eardley ready for tough Airbus test

Sean Eardley

Caernarfon Town manager Sean Eardley has said that Airbus UK will be a tough test for his side when the two meet this weekend.

Eardley’s men entertain the Wingmakers at The Oval in a top of the table clash with the signifcant bearing on the race for the Cymru Alliance title.

Airbus UK, are under the stewardship of Steve O’Shaughnessy following Andrew Thomas stepping down from his role. His side are just a point behind the Canaries but have played three games more. Victory over the Flintshire side would put the club in good stead for their Welsh Premier League ambitions.

“We expect a very tough game; they have a good blend of young and experienced players with a good management team behind them so it’s really going to test us as a group!!”

The visitors are used to be playing on an artificial surface at the Airfield, but when they travel to The Oval they will be met with a grass surface.

However, The Wingmakers have former Welsh Premier League talent at their disposal, with players such as Lewis Buckley, Stefan Edwards, Leo Riley, Danny Taylor and Steve Tomassen. All of which who have had experience of playing on both artificial and grass.

“They may take a different approach with a factor being they’re on grass, but they have good players to choose from so I’m sure they’ll adapt. It’s our penultimate home game though so we’re motivated and driven in getting a decent result.”

Despite the position, Caernarfon finds themselves in, with just seven games to go with a number of games in hand over their opponents and just one side other than Airbus UK in the top six, in Holywell Town to play. The Caernarfon Town manager has his feet remained firmly on the ground.

Focus is the key word and we are certainly not getting ahead of ourselves at all. For me the league is the most competitive it’s been and there are some decent teams around us, so we will take it week by week and try and get the right result!!”y has received a boost in that Chris Williams is available for the fixture, after coming over an injury. They will be without his namesake in Joe Williams, who misses out.

“Recently we had Chris Williams return to training, who since I came in was so consistent in his performance levels before his injury so that’s a bonus, and Joe Williams can expect a big in-house fine as he’s away skiing but other than that we are at full strength and excited for this Saturday and the remainder of the run in!”

Caernarfon are able to maintain a 100% unbeaten streak since Sean Eardley took the reigns of the club, following the departure of Iwan Williams to Llandudno.

His men claimed a scalp over Barry Town United, as well as remaining competitive in a tie with runaway Welsh Premier League leaders The New Saints.

“Life has been pretty good to be fair. To remain unbeaten in the league to date is a fantastic achievement from the players and their togetherness and spirit have been really tested in a few of the games.

To have a nice little run in the Welsh Cup was brilliant in the sense of the gates we had against Barry and TNS, pulling in over 1000 in both. A lot of hard work left, but really looking forward to it.”
