Gareth Wilson is the latest name to leave Bastion Gardens, following Prestatyn Towns’ relegation to the Cymru Alliance.

Wilson who took the role on a Caretaker basis after Niall Gibson’s shock departure to the Connah’s Quay Nomads agreed to take the job for next season in April but has since left the role.

His assistant manager, Steve Rogers, has also left the North Wales club. The club has already begun the process of identifying Wilson’s replacement.

“This has been a tough decision that we have had to make but we feel it is one that is necessary for the club to move forward and rebuild itself on and off the pitch. said Wilson when speaking to the RhylJournal.

“It has been a difficult and complex year for us all at the football club but at the same time, it has been a wonderful and uplifting professional and personal experience for me.

Prestatyn Town has seen a number of first-team players leave for JD Welsh Premier League and Cymru Alliance clubs. Wilson’s decision to leave the club is understood to be linked to his departure according to the Daily Post.

Seasiders trio Zyaac Edwards, Zebb Edwards and Damian Ketley all linked up with Iwan Williams at Llandudno, whilst Carl Jones has joined Cymru Alliance rivals Holyhead Hotspur, whilst Michael Parker and Noah Edwards have signed for Welsh Cup winners Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Whilst Jack Higgins, James Stead, Tom Kemp and Ben Maher are all expected to join former Rhyl boss Nigel McGuinness at Flint Town United, according to the Rhyl Journal.

Prestatyn Town finished bottom of the JD Welsh Premier League last season, picking up just four wins out of 32 games, finishing 10 points behind nearest placed Carmarthen Town.
