Sophie Ingle has returned to Chelsea after five years away from the London club.
Ingle has penned a two year deal at Kingsmeadow Park, after speaking to Chelsea loanee Beth England.
She recently played her 86th and 87th games for Wales, as she skippered them to victories over Bosnia & Herzegovina and Russia.
The 26-year-old was named as Liverpool’s Players Player of the Year for this season, as they finished in sixth place in the Women’s Super League.
Chelsea did the league and cup double this season after winning the Women’s Super League and the FA Women’s Cup.
“I’ve come to a club that is the number one in England, winning plenty of trophies, and I hope to do that here too!”
Ingle began her career with Vale Wanderers and Dinas Powys, before moving to Cardiff City where she played in the FA Women’s Premier League, as well as picking up up the Welsh Cup. She was then signed by Chelsea.
After initially being played as a left back by then manager Matt Beard, she moved to Bristol Academy where she earned the captaincy, before their relegation in the 2015/2016 season.
Speaking to chelseafc.com, Blues manager Emma Hayes said: “We’ve been monitoring her since she left us – I think it’s fair to say she’s been the key player for club and country, especially over the past 12 months.
She’s a top performer and has been quietly getting the plaudits every week.”
Overall, she made 55 appearances for Liverpool, before returning to Chelsea this summer.
